WOOSTER – Joanne R. Osgood, 74, of Wooster, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Wooster Community Hospital. She was born June 17, 1938 in Glen Ridge, NJ, the daughter of Thaddeus and Mary Cook Rowland. She married Bruce D. Slater on May 27, 1983. He survives. She had been an administrative assistant for the University of Cincinnati from 1960-1963 and was then a homemaker and a volunteer for Hospice. Joanne enjoyed skiing, photography and social media, traveling with her husband, embroidery and cross stich, sailing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, the Red Hat Society and the College Circle at The College of Wooster. Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Stephen Osgood of Acton, MA, David (Shelley Kauffman) Osgood of Reading, PA and Jeffrey (Brenda Gallagher) Osgood of Niwot, CO; step-son, Duncan Slater of Northwood, OH, step-daughter, Deborah Barnes of N Lawrence, OH; Grandchildren, Chase, Olivia, Quinn, Schuyler, Adam, James, Rowan, Miles and River Osgood; step-grandchildren, Holly and Scott Slater, Kelli Kasner and Brian Breneman; a brother, Randolph Rowland of Shelburne, VT and a sister, Patricia Rowland Webb of Greenville, SC. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Richard G. Osgood Jr. and a daughter-in-law, Amy C. Osgood. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Trinity United Church of Christ, 150 E. North St., Wooster with the Rev. Kevan Franklin officiating.
