WOOSTER – Raymond W. GASBARRE, 87, of Wooster, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at West View Healthy Living in Wooster surrounded by his family. He was born November 12, 1925 in Wooster, the son of Anthony and Beatrice Santangelo Gasbarre. He married Mary A. DelPropost on November 12, 1945. She preceded in death on August 23, 2011. He was the owner of R.W. Gasbarre & Assoc. since 1955 retiring in 1992. Ray was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus, the Lamplighters Social Club, the Elks, the Apple Creek American Legion, the National Society of Professional Surveyors, a member of the Board of Crippled Children & Adults Assoc., member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, served on the traffic commission, had been a 2nd ward councilman, was a parish councilman, past president College Hills Board of Trustees, on the Board of Hospital Commissioners, State chairman of Professional Surveyors of the State of Ohio, past Director of Chamber of Commerce and had been on the Wooster City Fire Prevention Board and the Wayne Co. Veterans Service Commission. Ray also served his country with the U.S. Navy Air Corps during WWII. Surviving are his children, William (Cherry West) Gasbarre of Wooster, Bea Wheatley of Maysville, KY, Patricia (Patrick) Neyhart of Wooster, Edward (Penny) Gasbarre of Wooster, Peggy (Bill) Bannan of Mentor; a sister Florence Keltz of Wooster and numerous nieces and nephews. Grandchildren, Brianne Wheatley, Charles (Erica) Neyhart, Sarah (Nick) Klinsgensmith, Dr. Deidre (Arnold) McIntosh; Step-grandchildren, Brandy Wint, Scott (Katie) Wint and Amanda Wallace; great-grandchildren, Vincent, Pierce and Laona Neyhart, Alyssa-Rae, Austin and Quentin McIntosh, Aidan Wint and Noah Alter. In addition to his wife, Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild, Bridget Anne Wheatley, sisters Theresa Gasbarre and Mary Lou Conn, Virginia DelPropost and brothers Carl Casper, Msgr. Francis Gasbarre, Joseph Gasbarre and Benjamin Gasbarre. Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday, June 9, 2013 from 6-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with Rev. Stephen Moran as the celebrant. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.
