Grace Alice Watts Jolliff, 88, of Wooster, passed to the arms of her Lord, Thursday August 15, 2013 at 9:00 PM. She was with family and friends at the time.
She was born October 20, 1924 to Ralph and Laura Purdy Watts in Glenmont, Ohio. She married Robert Retherford in 1939 and had a son, Robert Bobby Retherford in 1941. He first husband passed later that year. In 1941, she married Neal A. Retherford and had two children, Randy J. Retherford of Wooster and Shirley A. Aldrich of Lewis Center, Ohio.
Grace was a loving mother and homemaker. She worked at Rubbermaid for 13 years and at Hawkins Cafeteria for awhile. Grace loved to read on many topics and loved to paint and do arts and crafts. She loved butterflies and was known at the Butterfly Lady .
She and husband Neal, were involved in the Red Stocking Revue at the Wooster High School and loved to square dance, belonging to the Gnat Boxers square dance club. After retirements Grace was a volunteer for Red Cross and Meals on Wheels. She spent the last few months at West View Manor in Wooster where she made many wonderful friends. She enjoyed the book club and participating in the many activities at the home.
She had three children, Bob Retherford, Randy Retherford and Shirley Aldrich; 5 grandchildren John (Denise) Retherford, Tina (Joe) Boughner, Kristin Miller, Karli Nelson and Matt (Michele) Spriedejs; 4 great-grandchildren Marc (Shelia) Harvey, Brian Harvey and Ashley and Allison Retherford; one great-great-grandchild Madalyn Grace Harvey and a sister Thelma Way of Wooster.
She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father and two sisters Ruth Taylor and Evelyn Easterday.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday August 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. Friends will be received on Sunday from Noon until the time of service. Interment will be in Wooster Cemetery on Monday August 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Grace s honor to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
