Leon Lee Joseph Meyer, 85, of Wooster, OH, passed away September 1, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.   He was at home surrounded by his family.
He was born January 2, 1928 in Wooster, OH, son of Herman and Blanche Walter Meyer.   He married Doris Meier on April 15, 1950.
Lee owned DoraLee Dairiette in Smithville for 23 years before retiring in1987.   He was also a plastering contractor prior to owning the Dairiette and continued to plaster until his retirement.   Lee was a WWII Navy veteran who in a 2 year period visited 27 different ports.   He was integral in starting the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts at Melrose Elementary.   He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Saddlebags Kitchen Band, 20-30 Club, Elks, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge and the Golden Recliners Camping Club.     Lee had a passion for camping in his motorhome, with many trips across Ohio and the USA.   He loved to travel especially to Alaska and Myrtle Beach with his family.   He enjoyed woodworking, making many pieces of furniture for family and friends, spent many hours playing cards, and fishing in Alaska catching king, red salmon and trout.   Lee ™s greatest gift was his love of people and his desire to make those around him happy.
Surviving are wife, Doris   of Wooster, OH, son, Roger A.(Betty) Meyer of Edison, OH, daughters, Cindi (George) Crawford of Anchorage, Alaska, and Claudia Pixie(Randy) Gard of Wooster, brothers, Jerry Meyer of Wooster, Ray Meyer of VA, and Joe Meyer of Wooster, and a sister, Marcelline Trares of Wooster,   granddaughters, Renee Jo Watts and Shannon Merriman, grandsons, Roger L.   Meyer and Drew Browne, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Leon was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Meyer, great-grandson, Jacob Merriman, great-granddaughter, Samantha Merriman, and son-in-law, Stan Smith.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, September 6, 2013, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Stephen Moran officiating.   Private family burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
Friends will be received Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 6-8 PM at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, Wooster, OH.
