WOOSTER – Mabel M. Barnes, 100, of Wooster, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Smithville Western Care Center.
She was born August 12, 1913 in Millbrook, the daughter of George and Anna Mae Jones Whitcomb. She married Russell L. Barnes in 1932. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Mabel was a homemaker, a past president of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War and a member of the AARP.
Surviving are a daughter Lola (Jack) Schubert of Wooster, grandsons, Darren (Barb) Schubert of Geneva, IL and Scott (Nicole) Schubert of Cumming, GA and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Annika and Mari.
In addition to her husband, Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dick and Ed Whitcomb and a sister Ruth Sigler.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Thursday evening, October 10, 2013 from 6-8:00 p.m..
Services will be held at funeral home on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. Interment will follow in the Apple Creek Cemetery.
