WALNUT CREEK – Lois Suzanne Wright, 85, passed into the presence of the Lord surrounded by her loving family on December 4, 2013 at the Wooster Community Hospital.
She was born in Canton, Ohio on September 5, 1928 to Lela Marie and Henry A. (Weis) Degenhard, both of Magnolia, Ohio. She was married to Harry Stanley Wright of Mount Vernon, Ohio, who was the love of her live for over six decades.
She is survived by her husband, five children – Chris Chenevey of Wooster, Claudia Wright (Jeff Folzenlogen) of Cincinnati, Doug (Beth) Wright of North Carolina, Cookie (Denny) Wilson of Indiana, and Dane (Mary Anne) Wright of Michigan, thirteen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, her mother and her brother, Jack Degenhard.
Lois attended Aultman Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1949. After settling in Wooster, Ohio, she worked as an RN at Wooster Community Hospital for 28 years, including many years as head nurse of the OB department. She helped bring thousands of babies into the world and trained dozens of nurses.
She was a member of Apple Creek United Methodist Church for over five decades. Her faith in Jesus Christ was very important in her life and she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a dedicated wife and mother and poured herself into her family, including watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports, traveling on family vacations, and hosting family gatherings. She also enjoyed socializing and spending time with her many friends. She enjoyed playing golf and watching sports, especially as a diehard fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Her father, Henry, was a professional football player with the Canton Bulldogs and played alongside the legendary Jim Thorpe.
In keeping with Lois ™ wishes, her body was cremated without a public visitation. A private family memorial service and celebration of her life will take place in January, officiated by her son-in-law, Pastor Denny Wilson.
