WOOSTER – Ruth Berdina GROSSENBACHER, 84, of Wooster, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Wayne Co. Care Center following an extended illness.
She was born March 3, 1929 in Beallsville, the daughter of Charlie and Edna E. McDougal Carpenter.   She married George Grossenbacher on February 21, 1948.   He preceded her in death on October 15, 2008.
She was a graduate of Seville High School, was a homemaker and a member of the Salem Lutheran Church.   Ruth loved gardening, flowers, playing bingo, cards and visiting family and friends.
Surviving are daughters, Jane A. (Corwin) Croskey and Susan K Grossenbacher both of Wooster, step-grandchildren, Carrie Croskey of Wadsworth and Christine Roletter of Newport Coast, Calif; step-great-grandchildren, Dillon Croskey and Tanner and Hayden Roletter; her siblings, Robert Carpenter of Rittman, Glen Carpenter of Woodsfield, Mary K Lucas of Reno, NV, Erma Agin of Bucyrus, Betty King of Orrville and Doris Bourne of Orrville.
In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Winifred Acker and a brother Charles Carpenter.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church, 4873 Cleveland Rd., Wooster with Pastor Sharon Brown officiating.   Interment will be held at a later date at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
