WESTERVILLE – Bettie G. DAUGHERTY, 79, of Westerville and formerly of Wooster passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Edgewood Manor Nursing Home in Westerville.
She was born December 5, 1934 in Wooster, the daughter of Audra A. and Grace Kiser Brown. She married Donald E. Daugherty on December 20, 1953. He survives.
She retired as a secretary from Children Services and had worked at Maurer’s Drug Store until their closing in 2010. Bettie was a member of Central Christian Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed walking, visiting and spending time with her family and friends and loved the Cleveland Indians.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Gary Donn (Pat) Daugherty of Sheboygan, WI, Kimberly (Jay) Junk of Westerville and Ronald (Denise) Daugherty of Taunton, MA; 4 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, John A Brown of New Mexico and sisters, Judy Metcalf of Wooster and Dorothy Hamblin of Akron. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Robert A. and Thomas E. Brown.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with the Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
