LODI – Dorothy Arlene HERSHBERGER, 101, of Lodi, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Burbank Parke Care Center in Burbank.
She was born October 5, 1912 in Wooster, the daughter of Elza and Mercie Chance Rhamy.
She had owned the El Trevador and Dorway Restaurants, had been a waitress at the Wooster Inn and had worked at the Gerstenslager Co. She was a lifelong member of Disciples of Christ, most of this spent with Central Christian Church in Wooster. Dorothy had also volunteered as a Grey Lady at Lodi Community Hospital. She loved music and was soloist at many weddings over the years. Her favorite activities were being with her family, attending church, playing the piano and playing cards, especially bridge. She was a l.ifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians and watched their games faithfully.
Surviving are son, Wayne Jr. Pete (Margaret) Hershberger Jr. of Lodi; grandchildren, Danika Hershberger of Dallas, TX and Andrea Hershberger of Guam and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne Hershberger on October 7, 1975 and a son, Ronald Lee Hershberger in 1939.
Friends will be received 1 hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. service on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Central Christian Church, 407 N. Market St., Wooster with the Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
