WOOSTER “ Virgil P. Batdorf, 85, of Wooster passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at West View Healthy Living.
He was born December 16, 1928 in Wooster, the son of Martin and Mabel Wise Batdorf.   He married Betty V. Stevens on January 1, 1954.   She preceded him in death on July 10, 2010.
He was a banker having worked at Commercial Banking and Trust, Central Trust and retired from Wayne Savings and Loan as assistant vice president-checking account manager.   He was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ.
Virgil loved going to and watching motorcycle races, he was a member of the Killbuck Valley Road Ridersand he enjoyed traveling on his motorcycle with his wife.   He also enjoyed meeting up at the Parlor for breakfast with his friends every morning.   He also enjoyed OSU football and basketball and the Cleveland Indians.
Virgil proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War serving with Company H, 29th Infantry Division.
He is survived by his children, Shelley Stevens, Sharon (Brady) Smith and Stuart Batdorf all of Wooster; grandchildren, Jaime (Russell) Glorioso, Kelsey Bucher and Trista Smith and great-grandchildren, Sophia and Giuliana Glorioso.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Esther Neuhauser.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday, December 7, 2014 from 2-4:00 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Kirk Fairhurst officiating.   Burial will be in the Apple Creek Cemetery.
