WOOSTER – Don E. Strouse, 84, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015.  Don was born in Wooster on July 8, 1930.  
He was the third child of Wayne W. and Ruth Soliday Strouse, and he spent his early years in a home on Beall Avenue that his grandfather, Grant Soliday, had built.
In 1948, Don graduated from Wooster High School, and in 1952, he graduated from the College of Wooster.   He served in the Army from 1952-1954, during the Korean War.   Don went to law school at Ohio State University and graduated in 1957.   He practiced law in West Salem, Ohio in the office of Leo R. Kindsvatter from 1958-1959, and then he served as an Assistant Attorney General of Ohio from 1959-1963.  
Don married Irene L. Bechtol on May 1, 1960.   In 1963, they moved to Anchorage, Alaska where Don was an Assistant Attorney General for that state.   In 1966, they moved to Alexandria, Virginia where Don worked in Washington D.C. in the Office of General Counsel Staff Attorney, Bureau of Public Roads, U.S. Department of Commerce until 1968.   For the remaining 28 years of his professional career, Don worked as a trial lawyer in the Lands and Resources Division of the US Department of Justice.   He served as government counsel in the trials of many lands and natural resources related cases in various Federal Courts throughout the country.   After retirement in 1996, Don moved back home to Wooster, Ohio and rejoined the Wayne County Bar Association.   In retirement, Don has been active in various historical preservation and conservation projects.
Don is survived by his wife, Irene L. Strouse; two daughters, Anne J. Wren (Robert Wren) of Maryland and Amy Marie Strouse of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Kathryne N. Wren, Christopher A. Wren, and Sarah M. Wren; a niece, Pam Kiel Hess; and two nephews, John Wayne Kiel and Robert Andrew Kiel.  
Don was preceded in death by a brother who died in childhood, Robert Soliday Strouse; a sister, Marilyn (Peggy) Ruth Kiel; and a nephew, Mark Jeffrey Kiel.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 6-8:00 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the time of the service on Saturday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating.   Burial will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
