œTogether Again
Ida Marie Woodward, 93, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015, after a life filled with family, friends, love, grit, determination, moxy, and humor.
Born May 9, 1921 in Orrville, the daughter of John and Rose (Butzer) Yungen, Ida grew up on the family farm tending to the animals, winning first place at milking cows, and beating all the boys at sports.   A 1939 Chester High School graduate, Ida met and married her love, Leslie D. Woodward on January 21, 1943, together they raised their two children, Norman and Sandra.
While busy raising their children, Ida went to work for the Wooster Brush Company where she retired as a brushmaker in 1985 after 33 years of employment.   A faithful member of the Wooster United Methodist Church, Ida was also an active volunteer with the Salvation Army.
Ida loved, and was loved by her family.   She was always there for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and found great joy in following their activities.
Known to some as the œPricey Baker , Ida enjoyed cooking for charity “ especially baking her award-winning pies.   A fantastic cook (her mashed potatoes never had ANY lumps), Ida loved to cook for others and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.   Ida was quite a character, full of zest, never afraid to speak her mind.
Preceded in her death by Leslie in 1989, Ida is survived by her children, Norman (Charlene) Woodward of Wooster and Sandra (Larry) Batdorf of Seville; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren,  her sister-in-law, Rosemary Yungen of Orrville and several nieces and nephews
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Catherine Yungen, Luella Fulton, LaVonne Nussbaum, Glenn Yungen, John Yungen, and Volney Yungen.
A memorial celebration of Ida ™s life will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Wooster United Methodist Church, 243 N. Market Street, Wooster with the Reverends Kirk Fairhurst and Eric Fairhurst officiating.   The family will welcome friends following the service.
