WOOSTER – Martha J. Jean SCHAFFTER, 86, of Wooster, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at her home.
She was born January 31, 1929 in N. Little Rock, Ark, the daughter of Nelson and Hattie Dennis Steed. She married the love of her life, Paul B. Schaffter, on June 17, 1946. They had 68 wonderful years together. He survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Chapel United Methodist Church and a distinguished charter member of NARFF Chapter 2218. Jean was a very outgoing lady with a very infectious laughter and was loved by everyone who knew her. She loved gardening, her flowers and spending winters in her home in Florida with her family.
She will be sorely missed by her husband, her family, her friends and everyone who knew her.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Steven (Kate) Schaffter, Peggy (Rick) Barnard; 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and cousins in Little Rock.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Judy Fiscus, 4 sisters, 3 brothers.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Chapel United Methodist Church, 4203 W. Old Lincoln Way, Wooster with Rev. Robin Dillon officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the time of the service.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oak Chapel United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
