WOOSTER “ Dr. Melissa M. Schultz, 37, of Wooster passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from injuries received in an automobile accident.
She was born April 26, 1977 in St. Paul, Minnesota to William J. and Waunita Huegerich Schultz.   She married Brett Wright on August 5, 2005.   He survives.
Melissa was a brilliant student receiving her B.S. in Chemistry from Creighton University in 1999 and her PhD in Analytical chemistry at Oregon State University in 2004.   She received the National Research Council postdoctoral appointment from the Geological Survey at the National Water Quality Lab in Denver, Colorado from 2004-2006.  
As an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the College of Wooster, she was known both as a motivating teacher and innovative researcher.   She was also engaged in community activities in which she inspired young people, especially girls, to study science.   With her strong Christian principles and vibrant personality, she will be missed.   Her strong character and strength was demonstrated in her successful battle with breast cancer this past year.   She was an avid runner, reader and nature enthusiast but her greatest joy was her family.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the American Chemical Society and the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Lila, Teddy and Leo; her parents of North Oaks, Minnesota and her brother, Nathan and his wife Kim of Lakeland, Minnesota.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Friday, February 13 from 5-8:00 p.m.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, February 14, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with the Rev. Stephen Moran as celebrant.
Until further arrangements have been made, the family has asked that all financial gifts be made payable to Charles R. Wright and mailed to Jason Burgett, PO Box 1755, Wooster, OH 44691.
