WOOSTER – Sally Anne (Horning) Moyer, 83, of Wooster passed away unexpectedly and peacefully April13, 2015, after a long and prosperous life.   Her given name was Sarah, but she was known to all as Sally.
She was born November 9, 1931, in Kent, to the late Elton Henry and Helen Catherine Bauer Horning.   Sally graduated from Kent State High School in 1949.   She married her high school sweetheart, Roger Clinton Moyer, and together they had six children.
Sally grew up in a loving farm home with five sisters in Kent, Ohio.   Her father relished his five minutes allotted in the outhouse each day.   Singing around the piano was a favorite family pastime.   Later in life she spent many fond years singing in the Choir at St. Mary ™s Church.
Sally was a devout Catholic and a devoted volunteer to Mission Circle, Women ™s Guild, Meals on Wheels, and various other events and clubs in support of the Church.   She was a very social person and enjoyed her time with her gourmet club and bridge club.
Sally and her late husband Roger were married for 61 years and very much enjoyed Church, family and travel together.   They visited Europe, South America, the Philippines and many places in the western United States.   Family vacations were taken every year.   In their retirement years, Sally and Roger spent nine summers working at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.   Her house gradually became fully decorated in a southwestern theme with beautiful paintings, rugs and artifacts.
Sally had a great sense of humor and was quick to laugh.   She will forever be known by her children as a great cook, an intuitive mother, leader by example, a chauffer, a teacher and a shoulder to lean on.   She loved spending time with her family and loved all holidays.   She spent her life serving others.
Sally is survived by her six children, Pat (Alan) Richardson of Cuyahoga Falls, Chuck of Canonsburg, PA, Scott of Akron, Randy of Lakewood, Annette (Curtis) Lambert of Fresno, CA and Melinda (Jeff) Bees of Lakewood, 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary ™s Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster, with Reverend Stephen Moran as the celebrant.   Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.   Friends will be received on Friday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the Church prior to the Mass.
