WOOSTER Frank C. Matias, 69, of Wooster went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 17, 2015 at Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born September 28, 1945 in Cleveland, the son of Carl and Kay Lefler Matias. He married Judy Porto on September 10, 1981. She survives.
Frank was employed by LTV Steel as a steel slitter for 34 years retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Frank was an avid Browns, Indians and Buckeye fan and followed his grandchildren s activities. He enjoyed bowling and playing softball. He will be truly missed by all who loved him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Joseph S. (Mary) of Wooster, Judy A. (Bob) and Woody both of Cleveland and Donald (Annie) of Lodi; 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; a brother Rick Matias, a sister Diane Sabatino both of Cleveland and a dear friend, Maureen Yoder of Wooster.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean Matias.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 6-8:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with the Rev. Stephen Moran as the celebrant.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Funeral Home to help defray expenses.
