Richard Carlis Long, 70, of Wooster died Monday, November 30, 2015 at Shady Lawn in Dalton.
He was born July 29, 1945 in Charleston, WVA to Holly and Mabel Huffman Long.
On December 31, 1966, he married Wynona Withrow, who survives.   On February 14, 1997 he married Alva Gene Schaeffer, who preceded him in death on December 21, 2009.
Richard was a 1963 graduate of Nitro High School and served his country in the U.S. Army from 1964-1966 in the Spec 4 Third Armor Division.   He retired from Rubbermaid in 1995 after 30 years of service.   Richard loved to deer hunt, fish and bowl.   He was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhart, Sr..   He was a member of the Hot Rod Club in Wooster and the V.F.W. in Ripley, WVA.
Along with his first wife, Richard is survived by his children Angela (Alan) Delisle of FL, Stephanie (Scott) Ennis of Wooster, Rebecca (David) Lee of Massillon and Rachel (Brian Walters) Long of FL; step children Charlie (Allison) LaRue, Shane (Kristie) LaRue and Crystal LaRue all of PA; grandchildren Michelle Payne, Julaine (Jeremy) Lovett, Dustin (Trina) Delisle, Danyel Purdy, Telecia (Sean) Massie, Toni (Danny Foore) Purdy, Colten Purdy, Cody (Melody Stevens) Long, Makayla Lee, Jeffrey Strouth II and Garrett Strouth; 13 step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren Brandon, Edwin, Leiland, Lila, Khayden, Kole, Jaelyn, Mazie, Mylah and 2 more on the way; former son in law Jay Purdy; and a brother Stephen (Annie) Long of WVA.
Along with his second wife, Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brothers chuck and Bill Long.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 5:00 “ 8:00 P.M. at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
There will be no services.
Contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray the expenses.
