WOOSTER – Brian Tarpley, 62,  of Wooster passed away Thursday Feb 25, 2016 at Wayne County Care Center following a period of declining health.
Brian was born Dec 19, 1953 in  Wooster to the late  William J and Mazie  (Strickland) Tarpley.  
He is survived by a son Brice Tarpley of Wooster, a sister, Cassandra Wilson, of Akron.  He also is survived by nephews Marvin Minter, Demetrius Minter and Neil Webster and nieces Gayleen Tarpley Buck and Delphine Tarpley along with many cousins.   He also had stepchildren Terra Kunkel  and Tim  Fry.  
He was preceded in death by a brother William G Tarpley, parents and stepdaughter Allison Johnson.
Brian lived most of his life in the Wooster area except for some 10 years in Iowa working for General Mills. He also worked for Rubbermaid, Nabisco and Morton Salt for several years till health issues forced an early retirement.
Brian was a member of the Wooster High School class of 1972 where he excelled as an athlete in football, basketball and baseball  which earned him admission into the inaugural Wooster Hall of Fame class of 1986. Brian also was inducted into the Wayne County Hall of Fame in 1990.  He also attended Bluffton College where he played Baseball and Football where he was an all-conference player.
He played softball for many well-known area softball teams that gained national recognition such as Wooster Glass, TJ’s, Wooster McDonalds, Jones Construction, Rubbermaid and Kamco. Brian excelled at baseball and softball and was known as one of the best infielders in the area for many years. Brian was a member of West Hill Baptist Church and was active in their youth group where he impacted the lives of  many young adults. He was a loyal Wooster High sports fan and attended many sporting events  and practices.
Brian will be greatly missed by his many friends especially his special friend Jeff Plant, grandchildren Maziyah and Mylah  and family. He was a faithful servant of his Lord and Savior Jesus  Christ and is enjoying his new life in his saving grace.
Family and friends may call Monday, February 29th at West Hill Baptist Church in Wooster from 5-8pm with services Tuesday evening at 6pm at West Hill Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers we are establishing a Scholarship Fund in Brian ™s name at First Knox  National  Bank and all donations will be used to fund a scholarship for a  Wooster High School baseball player each year or to Southern Care Hospice Services, 41 Briggs Drive, Ontario, OH 44907
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt  thank you to the Dialysis Center in Wooster, Wayne County Care  Center, Dr.Tan and Dr. Lun  and all the nurses and aids and friends who attended to his needs during his illness.
