Dr. John Keith Knoke, 86, of Wooster died Friday, April 22, 2016 at LifeCare Hospice.
He was born March 31, 1930 in Detroit, MI to Carl and Welma Shoemaker Knoke.   John received his Ph.D. in Entomology.   He served his country in the U.S. Army.
John was a researcher for the U.S. Department of Agriculture working at the OARDC.   For 5 years he was a professor in Costa Rica.   John enjoyed playing bridge and poker, woodworking and taking his kids fishing in Apple Valley.   He also enjoyed travelling and once the family drove from Costa Rica to Michigan in their VW bus in the 60s.
John is survived by his wife of 60 years Delores Ann Kucharek Knoke; children Nina Cicconetti of Wooster and Alan (Patricia) Knoke of Bellevue; grandchildren Casey (Jamie) Cicconetti, Mitchell Cicconetti and Cari Cicconetti all of Wooster, Joshua (Martha) Knoke of Bowling Green, John (Brenda) Knoke of Renton, WA and Sarah (Alex Mullins) Knoke of Chicago; great-grandsons Luca Charles Cicconetti and Alan Theodore Knoke; brother Dr. Tom (Laurie) Knoke of DeKald, IL and a sister Nan (Ken) Sliter of Painesville.
John was preceded in death by his parents, a son William and a son-in-law Charles Cicconetti.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with his son Rev. Alan K. Knoke officiating.   Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery.   Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM.
