WOOSTER – LYNDA SMYTH HORNAK (fka LONGBRAKE) passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016.
She was born in New Britain, Connecticut, to the late William Hunter Smyth and R. Doris (Condon). Lynda was a graduate of Jackson High School (Massillon), The Ohio State University, and University of Akron. Lynda was a teacher and taught for 34 years, 27 of those years were at the Wayne County Schools Career Center. Teaching was a part of her being. She always found the teachable moments.
She is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, John R. Sam Hornak, who did not leave her side these last months; son, W. Bradford Longbrake (Suzanne) of Canal Fulton; daughter, Jessica Graser (Dalton); stepdaughters, Abigail Hornak Rapp of Wooster, and Elizabeth Hornak DeLeonSoto (Andrew) of Erie, PA; grandchildren, William Hunter Longbake, Anna Bridget Longbrake, Samantha Graser, Tristan Graser, Grayson Rapp, Hayden Rapp, and Nora DeLeonSoto; brother-in-law, Robert DeMooy; niece, Becky Lively (Tom Price); nephew, Rob DeMooy (Kim) and great nieces, Rachel DeMooy, Emily DeMooy, and Sarah Lively.
In addition to her parents, Lynda was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia DeMooy.
A celebration of Lynda s life will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016, at 11:00 am, at St. James Episcopal Church, 201 N. Market St., Wooster with the Rev. Evelyn Manzella officiating.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
