CINCINNATI – Anthony Joseph Sandore passed away at the age of 92 in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 26 2016.  
He was born on December 20 1923 in Wooster Ohio to Sabatino and Theresa Santora.   He attended St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception catholic elementary school, and Wooster High School.  Anthony apprenticed as a butcher for Straub ™s Meats in Wooster until he joined the U. S. Navy, where he served from 1941-45.
After his military service he worked for the Baltimore & Ohio railway in mail service, and as a train dispatcher.   His keen interest in jazz led him to complete a certificate in musical instrument restoration and repair.  He took a position with the U. S. Postal Service in Wooster, Ohio, where he worked for 30 years, also serving as a union steward for the American Postal Workers Union / AFL-CIO.   Anthony also drove the school bus for the Triway School District for 10 years.  
Anthony and Ruth Mary Muncy were married on June 17, 1950 and they made Wooster their home for the 63 years of their marriage.   After retirement they traveled extensively in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia.   His wife Ruth preceded him in death (2013).   In 2014, he relocated to Cincinnati to be closer to his family.
Throughout his life Anthony was actively engaged in Wooster community and church-related activities.   He served on the City of Wooster Planning Commission, and was a member of the Knight of Columbus and the American Legion.   As a volunteer for over 25 years Anthony helped organize and manage the weekly offertory collection at St. Mary Catholic Church. He coached middle school basketball in the 1960s -70s at St. Mary School.   He and his wife Ruth were avid supporters of the College of Wooster Scots basketball team for several decades.He is survived by his children Lisa M. Sandora (Mike Doyle) of Cincinnati; Beth Sandore Namachchivaya (Sri) of Champaign Illinois; grandchildren Jeffrey and Steven Doyle of Cincinnati and Anura Namachchivaya of Champaign Illinois; his sister Esther Sandore.
In addition to his wife, Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Elizabeth, Marie, and Eva.
Friends will be received one hour prior to a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, at St. Mary ™s Church, 527 Beall Ave.   Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
