WOOSTER Samuel Christian Fleming, 81, of Wooster passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born May 8, 1935 in Holmes County, the son of Robert C. and Marjorie M. Christian Fleming. He married Fleeta Belle Graber on January 26, 1958. She survives.
He was a painter and paper hanger for over 50 years. He had worked for Fred Yoder Painting and started Sam Fleming Painting in 1982 and was later joined by his son. He attended the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Sam enjoyed vacations out west and Alaska and loved old cars (repairing, selling and buying) and attending car shows. He enjoyed doing things with his grandsons, attending their games, playing baseball in school and in church leagues. He also did some coaching.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Brad (Brenda) Fleming and Carla Turner both of Wooster; his grandchildren, Jacob, Garrett and Sammy Fleming, Justin Stoltzfus and Christian Turner and brothers John (Jan) Fleming and Stephen Fleming of Wooster.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 6-8:00 p.m.
Services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen Olsen officiating. Private family burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery.
