WOOSTER – Carol Beal Durie, 94, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Wooster Community Hospital.
She was born March 28, 1922 in Chatfield, OH to Reuben and Naomi Beal. She married Bert Durie II November 3, 1943 at Marine Corps Base Quantico. He preceded her in death in 1999.
Carol graduated from Chatfield High School and attended Bowling Green State University with a major in education. She was a school teacher and substitute teacher in the Wooster City Schools for 15 years. Carol and Bert were members of the Wooster First Church of God where she taught Sunday School and played piano for 15 years.
Bert and Carol enjoyed traveling around the world including the Holy Land, Egypt, China, Western Europe, Canada and all 50 United States. They also loved cruising.
Surviving are her three children and their spouses, Bert and Cheryl Durie of Cincinnati, Delores and Charlie Zulauf of Sarasota, FL and Ron and Diana Durie of Woodstock, GA; five grandchildren, Suzy Durie Henke, Jenny Durie O’Brien, Brianne Zulauf Maciejowski, Chelsie Durie Vlahiotis and Ronnie Durie; and four great-grandchildren, Maddie, Luke, Brynna and Maeve.
In addition to her husband, Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ruth and brother Edward, all of Bucyrus, OH.
Friends are welcome at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Services will be held Friday, September 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at West View Healthy Living, 1715 Mechanicsburg Road, Wooster with Pastor Kirk Fairhurst officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot in Lust Cemetery in Chatfield, Ohio.  
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Northeast Regional Office, 525 N Broad St, Canfield, Ohio 44406; or Arthritis Foundation, 4630 Richmond Rd, Suite 240, Cleveland, OH 44128.
