WOOSTER “ Richard J. Britton, 86, of Wooster passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Danbury Woods of Wooster.
He was born December 3, 1930 in Rittman, the son of Samuel and Florence Gardner Britton.   He married Rose M. Hosfeld on May 29, 1954.   She survives.
He retired as a machinist in 1994 from North American Roto Engravers.   He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a life member and Past Commander of the VFW, a life member of the Eagles Lodge and a member of American Legion.
He proudly served his country with the US Navy during the Korean War from 1948 “ 1952.
In addition to his wife, Rose, he is survived by his children, Ellen (Dennis) Hammond of Wooster, Brad (Mary Beth) Britton of Holland, Ohio and Susan Evans of North Canton; grandchildren, Bob and Megan Hammond, Corey and Katie Britton, Brian (Anna) Evans, Craig (Alyssa) Evans and Mae Evans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Donald Britton and a sister, Pauline Ingham.
Friends will be received 1 hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with the Rev. Stephan Moran officiating.   Burial will be in the Ohio Western National Cemetery in Seville at 1:00 p.m.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
