Richard Allen Dick Silver, 90, of Wooster died Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman.
He was born February 27, 1928 in Wooster to Roger and Alta Fetzer Silver. On October 23, 1948, he married Marjorie Weigley. She preceded him in death in 2016.
Dick was the owner and operator of the W. F. Weigley Allis-Chalmers Farm Implements in Wooster. He also ran the chain gang at the Wooster High School football games for over 60 years. He was active in the Oak Chapel United Methodist Church, enjoyed going to flea markets and vacationing with Marjorie. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Dick was a member of the Wooster Noon Lions and the 555th Honors Detachment and was proud to help provide military honors to veterans. Dick was very social and loved people. He will be missed by family and friends alike.
He is survived by his daughters Diane (Tim) Rutt of Apple Creek and Beverly (Steve) Fultz of Sterling; grandson Curtis (Hallie) Rutt of Strasburg; great-grandson Anson Rutt; brother Thomas (Evelyn) Silver of Wooster and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife, Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Donna J. Beltz.
Friends will be received on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
Private family graveside services will be held in Chippewa Church Cemetery.
