WOOSTER “ Preston Richard Spencer, 89, of Wooster passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Ohio ™s Hospice LifeCare.
He was born September 18, 1929 in Aurora, Wisconsin, the son of Harvey and Ione Preston Spencer.   He married Shirley L. Gorrell on September 1, 1951.   She survives.
He was a 1954 graduate of Michigan Tech.   Preston had been a Civil Engineer for Goodyear Tire & Rubber, Union Metal in Canton, Umbaugh Pole Buildings in Ravenna, a Deputy Engineer for Portage Co. and County Engineer for Seneca Co. for 10 years until his retirement in 1990.
He was an avid reader and raised and showed Morgan horses for over 25 years.
Preston proudly served his country with the US Air Force from 1947-1950.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Scott H. (DeJane) Spencer of Wooster and Kristine (Christopher) Schoewe of Vickery, Ohio; grandchildren, Jeremy Spencer, Nathan Spencer, Aaron Stewart and Kristin Stewart; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Gabrielle and Kyler Spencer, Devon Jones and Madison Jett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robin Spencer, a grandson, Richard Spencer and his siblings, Harvey J. Spencer and Marilyn J. Spencer.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
