WOOSTER – John B. Sherrick, age 53, passed away on Sunday, May 5th 2019.
John was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a graduate of Kent State University, where he received his Bachelors of Science in Applied Mathematics and Pure Mathematics in 1988. He began working for the City of Wooster in 1990, first for the maintenance department, before finding his true calling as a Wooster City Firefighter and Paramedic, where he served his community for over 25 years, from 1991 through his retirement in 2016. John played an integral part in bringing paramedic services to the Wooster Fire Department, and during his tenure he served on the Fire Investigation unit.
In his spare time John was an avid golfer, and could often be found on the green trying to stay under par with his closest friends. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, and would take annual trips to Canada to decompress through fishing and camping while surrounded by friends and by nature. His intellect and skill were only outdone by the immensity of his heart and his generosity. John could always be called upon to help a friend in need, whether it be building a house, helping someone move, or any other assistance he could provide.
He had done volunteer work for the Wayne County Dog Shelter and made homemade jerky and gravy for the shelter animals that struggled to eat.
John was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Sherrick. He is survived by his mother, Judith Sherrick, his brother Michael Sherrick (Kailey Sherrick), and his nephew Emory Rufus Sherrick.

My deepest condolences to John’s family and friends. John and my sister Cynthia are the same age so I remember him well, and we all rode the same school bus back in the day. Our world is sadder without his smile and his presence.
Rest in peace, old friend. Your kindness and your easy smile warmed more hearts than you ever realized. Many prayers going out the Sherrick family.

We are very saddened by the loss of a friend. Our prayers are with the family and friends at this time.
Sorry for your loss. John was a good friend of our son Steve. John drove Steve’s car from California back to Ohio.
It was saddening to read the passing away of John. There were many tributes to John’s life in the obituary of a life well lived in service. Our family remembers John when he played baseball for the First Federal team and also as a good math student. Rod says he was one of the best baseball players he ever had. He was always cheerful, friendly, and a team player to his teammates. As evidenced by the way he lived life these traits continued on. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Sherrick family. The Johnson family, Rod & Patti, Lars, Erik, Sten and Nils
It was a sad day when I learned of John’s passing. My sisters and I have such fond memories of growing up with John and Mike. Spending summer days at the Sherrick Farm is one of my favorite childhood memories. Whether we were playing a game of baseball, cowboys & Indians, or horsing around in the barn, we were childhood friends packing all we could into a summer day. It was always a special treat to go to the milk parlor to get an ice-cold Pepsi. Judie would always fix us a yummy lunch of sloppy joes and chips. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Sherrick Family, as well as our prayers of comfort and peace.
Love from the Ramsier family, George & Norma, Kim, Bev, Susan, and Peggy
To the entire Sherrick family, I offer my deepest sympathy during this time of loss and sorrow. May you find comfort in all the happy memories you have and those of others who have been sharing theirs. Kathy
John and I and others at the Wooster Maintenance division had a blast every summer we worked together as summer help. It created life-long friendships and memories that made us laugh until we cried. I will always celebrate his life.
