WOOSTER – Barbara Ann Stahl, age 86, formerly of Wooster, died on June 8, 2019 at Accord Care Community, Orrville (formerly Brenn-Field Nursing Center) after a period of declining health.
She was born on March 29, 1933 in Wooster to Leslie Ted and Laura (Kyser) Berry.
She was a 1951 graduate of Wooster High School.
Barbara was married to Howard Stahl on February 14, 1954 at Oak Chapel Methodist Church. Howard passed away on May 24, 2016.
She was employed as a telephone operator at Ohio Central Telephone Corp. She was also a homemaker and babysat her grandchildren.
Barbara was involved in her community. She was a Cub Scout Den mother, and helped lead the Melrose Elementary PTA and Wooster High School Music Boosters along with Howard.
In her youth, Barbara was involved in 4-H and in 1951 she was named a 4-H Member of the Year for her leadership and achievements.
As an adult, Barbara continued her involvement with 4-H. She was a 4-H advisor for the Madisonburg Pioneers for 35 years. In 2000 she was awarded the Wayne County 4-H Meritorious Service Award for her dedication to 4-H Youth.
While her husband, Howard served as a director of the Fair Board (Wayne County Agricultural Society), Barbara assisted him at the Open Class sheep show and at the Kiddie Tractor Pull, which she and Howard started in 1988. In 2012, Barbara was awarded one of the Outstanding Volunteer Service Awards by the Wayne County Fair for her many years of service to the Fair.

Barbara and Howard enjoyed traveling, including over 20 years with the Ohio Fair Managers annual tour visiting state fairs and festivals around the county. They also enjoyed visiting more than 50 county fairs in Ohio.
Barbara was also a member of Union Grange and the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Wooster, and had also attended St. Paul Lutheran, Smithville and West Hill Baptist Church, Wooster.
Barbara is survived by her children, Deb (Mike) Olinger of Valley City, Dave (Laurie) Stahl of Wooster, Steve Stahl of Akron and Ron (Janice) Stahl of Gahanna, seven grandchildren, Sarah (Evan) Layton, Kelly (Alex) Girvin, Katie (Keith) Kerns, Ashley (Ben) Hoffman, Tyler (Erica) Stahl, and Holly & Lindsey Stahl, and 7 great-grandchildren, Carson and Grant Layton, Khloe and Kaylem Kerns, Howie Hoffman, and Jackson and Cora Stahl.   She is also survived by a brother, Herb (Anita) Berry of Wooster, a sister Harriet Cotsamire (Ron Young) of Bucyrus, and sister-in-law, Annie Howman of Orrville.
In addition to her husband, her parents and a sister Dotty Frye died previously.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating.   Private family burial will be held.
