WOOSTER “ Phyllis Joyce Porter, 89, of Wooster passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Ohio ™s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster.
She was born December 10, 1929 in Wooster the daughter of Vincent and Agnes McClelland Massaro.   She married Raymond Ward Porter on May 24, 1952.   He preceded her in death on September 30, 2010.
She had been a hairdresser for 66 years.   Phyllis was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters.   She loved crocheting and bowling and was inducted into the first class of the Wooster Women ™s Bowling Assoc. Hall of Fame.   She had served as president of the Lamplighters Auxiliary, worked at voting polls for many years and was a volunteer at People to People Ministries and at St. Mary ™s Catholic Church.
Surviving are her children, Vincent (Cyndi) Porter of San Antonio, Texas, Raymond (Tracey Weber) Porter II of Glenmont, Kathleen Porter of Smithville and Barbara (Walter Siekemeyer) Ledford of Orrville; grandchildren, Michael (Stephanie) Porter, Rhiannon Massaro, Stephanie Porter, Christopher Porter, Brian (Kaycee) Porter, Melissa Gillespie, David (Jenna) Ledford and Amanda Slone ; 9 great-grandchildren and a sister, Ella Kick of Wooster.
In addition to her husband, Raymond, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Owen Massaro and Beverly Massaro and a very special sister-in-law, Irene Rose.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St. on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 6-8:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Avenue, Wooster with the Rev. Stephen Moran officiating.   Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

  8. It saddens me to see Phillys has left us. I bowled with Phil, and Fran Glad to on weds. Night at the Wayne. She became a very good friend . Her and Ward will forever live on in my memories as two of the kindest people I could ever call my friends. Now back with Ward, cook some of those wonderful meat balls and sauce, and my pizzells.   9. Oh ,I was saddened to see Phill had passed. Her and Fran Blatti ,Missy Davis,and I bowled on Weds late at Wayne LANES. SHE TAUGHT me to “Rock and roll,not run and throw.” Her and Ward became good friends of my husband and I, and lived for their meatballs and sauce ! And every time she made pizzells,she always have me three. My friend, I enjoyed our time together and will remember her always with pleasure.Rest in Peace Phill,I loved you .My deepest sympathy for your loss.
