WOOSTER “ Robert Sean Carmichael, 52, of Wooster passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at his home.
He was born December 4, 1966 in Wooster the son of Robert Blaine and Sharon K. Mandolin Carmichael.   He married Angela Bevington on July 21, 1990.   She survives.
Sean was a 1985 graduate of Triway High School and a 1990 graduate of the University of Akron on a full athletic scholarship and was a four year starter for the Zips Baseball team.   His first coaching job during college was at Bolich Jr. High in Cuyahoga Falls as the boy ™s basketball coach, he was the assistant baseball coach for the Akron Zips under head coach Dave Fross.   He also was the assistant basketball coach under lifelong friends, Randy Montgomery, Keith Snoddy and presently Ben Holt.   Sean had also worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Sean was the Triway Varsity Baseball coach from 1994 to the present, served as Triway Athletic Director and Transportation Director, was a member of the Triway Booster Club and the Wayne Co. Sports Hall of Fame.
He truly loved the Triway community and was willing to help any young person, coach, staff member, or player past or current.   He loved all Triway Titans.   However, his greatest joy was being part of Derek, Parker and Zoë ™s education and their athletic careers.   He was touched that all three chose to wear the #12 just like he did at Triway.   He was proud of all their accomplishments but more so of their work ethic, dedication, sportsmanship and personal character.   Derek followed his footsteps by becoming an Akron Zip Baseball player while Parker and Zoë became Ohio Dominican Panthers.   His mother remained his rock throughout his entire life.   His friendships through Triway and the Pac 7 gave him great joy.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Angela are his children, Derek Blaine Carmichael, Parker Lewis Carmichael and Zoë Alexandra Carmichael; his mother, Sharon K. Carmichael; Aunts, Jane Carmichael and Ruth Flinner; his sister, Kelly (Steve) Keller and children, Jamie (Tayler) Yoder, Destiney Yoder (Kai) and Noelle (Byard) Ebling (Gianna); his mother-in-law, Peg Bevington; sisters in law, Tammy (David) Martin and Kyle (Jess) and Cameron (Holly), Lisa Macaulay, Maty, Keaton and Boden; Erica Camacho and Manny, Quincy and Joey.   Sean also loved Abby Gindlesberger, Lauren Orlando and Austin Davis like his own.
He was preceded in death by his father, Blaine Carmichael, grandparents, Jim and Julia Mandolin,  grandparents, Floyd and Betty Carmichael, Uncle, Larry Carmichael, Uncle, Jim Carmichael and   father-in-law, Lewis Bevington.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 3-8:00 p.m. at œThe Pit at Triway High School, 3205 Shreve Rd., Wooster.

Sean will be missed by many but has left many good memories for those he coached and worked with over the years. We know our 3 children benefited by being coached by Sean but also by observing how he handled himself while coaching them or working with them. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

I just want to say how very sorry I am to hear of Sean’s passing. I have many great memories playing ball with him back when we played for Hahn Frank. Sean was a heck of a ball player but I believe he was even a better person. It was a privilege to have been friends with him. When ever our paths crossed I always left smiling and laughing. I do have to say something though about Sean’s dad and the Carmichaels. When Blaine passed, I remember seeing my dad cry, I never seen that and it was because of what my dad said that now I get, my dad told me Blaine was the nicest guy he has ever met. I never forgot those words. Well, the apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree. Sean was one of the nicest guy’s I ever met!! I am truly sorry about the loss of this good man!—-Your friend Rod Rehm!

  24. I, together with my family want to extend our sincerest sympathies, thoughts and prayers. There are not enough words to express what a light Sean was in the community. His encouragement, guidance, support was respected by many. He definitely left a dash that will leave a legacy to be proud of for years to come. This same guidance, support, and encouragement will not go with him but will live on in so many adults and youth with whom he touched. We are not promised tomorrow and I believe Sean lived each day to its fullest loving all as we are commanded to do. His works will live on for years to come. We are truly a blessed community to have had him in our lives and school.

  38. Much has been said about Sean as coach and mentor, and rightly so. But in his role as Transportation Director, he helped keep the buses rolling when they should and the kids home safe when they shouldn’t.I’ll really miss him coming behind me with a double shoulder pat and a “How’re you doing Senor?” I think all can agree, the positions Sean held at Triway can be filled, the man himself can never be replaced. Condolences to the Carmichael family.

  59. I barely know where to begin. I grew up on Barnes drive along with Sean Carmichael.at that time in school there were basically three classes you were either a hood a jock or a prep. I never really fit into any one of those categories and I especially whas not a jock. However I probably received as many passes as anyone on the football team from Sean in his backyard. We had the best backyard football games imaginable.Sean never judged me as far as being a jock or a prep or a hood he just accepted me for who I was. I actually got to talk to him on August 10th at Walmart and he was as cordial as ever You will be greatly missed my friend.
