WOOSTER Thomas George Tom Leighty, 89 of Wooster passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at his home.
He was born November 11, 1929 the son of Thomas George, Sr. and Ruth Bahl Leighty. He was married to his loving wife, Mary Lou Mohr for 62 years. She survives.
Tom was an auto mechanic. He had worked in Wooster for Lytle Construction and then for his brother, Richard at his gas station and later he worked in the garage at the O.A.R.D.C. and retired from there. He loved automobiles, taking his grandkids to Cedar Point, being on Lake Erie fishing and riding his Goldwing.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary Lou, are his children, Thomas Jr. (Michelle) Leighty, Danny (Norma) Leighty, Howard (Kim) Leighty and Linda Sue Edwards; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Cliff (Ginny) Leighty, Miriam Terman and Eunice (Gerald) Yates and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sons Larry and Terry and a son James and his siblings, Wilford Joe , Robert, Gerald Nupp , John, Richard, Daniel, Evelyn and Doris Leighty.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster 1 hour prior to the 2:00 p.m. service on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 with Mr. Tom Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Apple Creek Cemetery.
