Together Again
WOOSTER Joseph DeLuca, Jr., 94, of Wooster passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Ohio s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster.
He was born September 16, 1925 in Wooster, the son of Joseph Sr. and Florence Vitallo DeLuca.
He retired in 1985 from Rubbermaid after 16 years as a printer and had previously worked for 26 years at US Fabricators. Joseph was a life member of American Legion Post 68 and VFW #103of Wooster, was a member of the 555th Honors Detachment serving as a rifleman in the firing squad for veterans funeral s., Wayne Co. Historical Society, a life member of the Combat Infantryman s Association, the 504th M.P. Association and served on the Honor Guard for General Patton.
He proudly served his country as a Cpl. and later as a first Sgt. with the US Army during WWII from 1943-1946 serving in France, Belgium, Italy and Austria and the European Theater.
Joseph is survived by a sister Lana Immel of Wooster and many nieces and nephews and a close friend Bud Noe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 49 years, Janis Redd DeLuca on May 20, 1998 and a sister Vivian Grusnick.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Monday, March 2, 2020 from 6-8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Gladson officiating. Entombment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice and also Dr. Dana Bonezzi and her staff for all the care given to Joe.
