Our condolences to the Carpenter family on the passing of Mr. Carpenter. He was a wonderful band director and person, lots of good memories
Such wonderful memories of Mr. Carpenter as Band Director while leading the Orrville High School Marching Band down the field. So sorry to read this news. My love to the entire Carpenter Family.
“The Horse” forever…
Condolences to the Carpenter Family. My sisters and I had Mr. Carpenter as a band director at Orrville HS. OHS Forever.
A Heart Felt Condolences to the Carpenter Family. Mr. Carpenter was instrumental of taking a small Shreve Marching Band of 20 some in the late 50’s and creating a 60 some members into an elite Marching Band of the early 60’s when Triway was formed. Mr. Carpenter instilled marching and displined into us that was taken notice by other band’s on the field during half time. Entering the Navy ‘63 I was with the Navy Drum&Bugle Corps which I hit the ground running due to Mr. Carpenter’s training. I appreciate the hard work and time he put into a career he most loved. To see his student’s excell at District and State ensembles for 1st or 2nd placement’s made him proud. My sister Linda also a Band member and Majorette during Mr. Carpenter tenure at Triway also appreciate’s Mr. Carpenter of pushing her to be one of the best on the field. Always have and Always will never forget Mr. Carpenter. Harry Morris, FL
So sorry to hear of Don’s passing. He was my band and choir director in Shreve from 1956-1960 where he demonstrated professionalism and patience, especially with band members who liked to riff on their own, as I and Don Irvin loved doing. Mr. Carpenter made a positive impression on all who knew him. He will be missed.
Barbara and I were saddened to hear of Don’s passing. I enjoyed so much working with you and Don in Choral Union and playing in the Stark band with him, and just getting to know you over the years. Please know of our care for you in this difficult time.
Dorcas, Barbara and I were saddened to learn of Don’s passing. It was great to work with you and Don in Choral Union, to play with him in the Stark BAnd, and just to know you over the years. Please know of our care and sympathy during this difficult time.
So sorry to hear of this loss. “Mr Carpenter” made such an impact on my life. I’ve played my trombone in brass quintets for decades since having Don as my teacher. I fondly remember the four years of marching band, with all the amazing experiences that went with it. I valued the help he gave with the state competitions. Heaven will be even brighter with his musical skills! Hear on earth, my prayers are with his family.
I am so sad with you and the family! I just learned about it and my prayers and thoughts are with you along with hugs! Don was such a wonderful husband, father and Christian. I often think of the family and have such fun and happy memories ❤️ of each of you! Love and prayers! Sandy

So sorry to learn of Don’s passing. We last talked to him when Dave’s folks passed a few years ago, and he showed up for visitation both times. Such a gentleman, and a fine musician. Dave and I still play in a number of groups, and I remember him working with our trombone quartets, which always got 1’s. He also grew the Orrville band from 80 to two large groups during his tenure. As we play in local groups, it’s amazing how much difficult music we played back then, that many of the other adults in our groups have never experienced. We didn’t appreciate him at the time, but over the years, we have realized just how fine a conductor he was. You never forget your high school band director–Don will always be a part of all of us and our kids who play and now, my grandkids! Still passing on the good lessons he taught us.
