Alva Earl Fockler Jr., age 69, died unexpectedly at his home in Pickerington on Monday, May 4th, 2020.
He was born on July 6th, 1950 in Wooster to Alva and Mary (Yacapraro) Fockler.   On June 21, 1996 he married Pamela Kelley.  
Earl graduated from Wooster High School in 1968 and served in The United States Army in the Vietnam War from 1969-1971.   He owned Fockler Photography before starting his career in community service working as a school bus driver, Sergeant at the Wayne County Sheriff ™s Department and worked at the Wayne County Municipal Court as a bailiff where he retired in 2003.   Following his retirement Earl and Pam moved to Outerbanks, NC enjoying the beach life while working at the Blue Heron Motel for 10 years. They moved back to Pickerington to be closer to their family and grandchildren.   Earl loved the Outerbanks entertaining family and friends that visited and the peacefulness of the ocean. In Ohio he enjoyed outdoor activities and taking care of the lawn while enjoying the sun. He was a kid at heart, playing with all his grandchildren and his dogs. He was grateful for his family and friends.
Along with his wife, Pam, Earl is survived by his mother, Mary Fockler; daughter Kim (Virlen) Jarvis; son Earl (Janel) Fockler;  step-children Jenny (Ryan) Tanner, Jeff (Allison) Yund and James (Jamie) Boss; many grandchildren; sisters Kathleen (Allan) Wright and Debra (David) Snyder; brother Thomas Fockler; first wife and mother of his children, Maxine Spencer Fockler along with many cousins, nieces, nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alva Earl Fockler.
Due to the recent Covid-19 pandemic a private family funeral service will take place Monday, May 11th. There will be a virtual service available on the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish can make memorial contributions to McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E Larwill St, Wooster, OH 44691, to help defray funeral expenses.

  2. I am shocked and saddened by the news of Earl’s passing. I will always remember talking to him when he was a bus driver and his calming smile and always a good word when called for jury duty. My thoughts and prayers for the whole family.

    We are so sorry to hear that Earl passed away. We really enjoyed seeing Earl when we would go on vacation to the Outer Banks and stay at the Blue Heron Motel. He always made our stay very pleasant and we looked forward to seeing him every time we went there. He seemed to enjoy being at the Outer Banks. He really loved it when we took an empty pizza box from Coccia House on one of our vacations.
