WOOSTER Mary Jo Drabenstott, 74, of Wooster passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Ohio s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster.
She was born November 26, 1945 in Texas City, Texas, the daughter of Hiram David and Virginia Calhoun Taylor.
She retired as a surgical scheduler at the OSU Medical Center and had previously worked as a secretary at Triway High School. Mary Jo was a graduate of Triway High School, and she attended Miami University. She had attended Wooster United Methodist Church. Mary Jo enjoyed jigsaw puzzling, painting, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children Rich (Cindy) Drabenstott of Dayton and Chris Drabenstott of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Jack and Kate Drabenstott; a sister Jackie Lee of Wooster and brothers George Taylor of Wooster and David Taylor of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be livestreamed at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 2020 on the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Facebook page.

Eleanor and I are sending loving thoughts prayers and sympathy to Mary Jo’s family. My Mother, Eleanor, is a resident of Wayne Manor along with Mary Jo. I come from out of state to visit my mom once a month for several days at a time. Mary Jo always called me by name and was so sweet to ask how I was doing and to ask how my trip into Wooster was. Mom and I will both miss Mary Jo and artistic ability’s and her sweet personality.

I can’t begin to express the sorrow I feel with the loss of your mom, and am certain that it is nothing like each of you are experiencing. I know how deeply she loved–and worried–about each of you, and especially her beautiful grand-kids & grand-dogs! I’ll miss our phone calls and visits and all the fun we’ve had together over the years. She was so special to our entire family, helping with my parents in their end years and loving them as if she were a daughter. And, in essence she was, and Joyce and I referred to her as our sister. Jo’s response was “yep, here I am again, the middle child!” Our trip to Alaska, when we three gals traveled together. Jo and I were laughing just a few days before she passed about what a great time we had on that cruise. I know that she’s finally at complete peace, and hope you too gather comfort in that knowledge. Rich and Chris, there are no words that can fill the void of losing a mother. I can share with you something that should make you both smile. My first real memory of your mom was car pooling about five Wooster Twp. Wildcats to a basketball game at Shreve Elementary. We were all singing at the top of our lungs The Eagles song Heartache Tonight. Your poor mom had to be laughing here head off inside while trying to concentrate on the road. We thought we were young superstars back then. She was a super lady and will be missed by more than you know.
