WOOSTER “ Patricia J. Besancon, 92, of Wooster passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Ohio ™s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster.
She was born December 19, 1927 in Wooster the daughter of Clarence and Bess McAfee Koontz.   She married Justin F. Besancon on August 10, 1948 at St. Genevieve Catholic Church of Calmoutier in Fredericksburg.   He preceded her in death 1997.
Pat was a graduate of the Wooster Business College and had been an editor at the Daily Record, retiring in 1987.   She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church.   Pat was an avid euchre player and a long-time volunteer at People To People Ministries.
Her greatest joy was loving on her children and grandchildren who will miss her tremendously.
Surviving is her daughter, Jane Robbins of Wooster; grandchildren Jill Robbins of Wadsworth, Lisa (Chet) Dunlap of Wooster, Mark Robbins of Wooster, Janelle Ellison of New Hampshire, Justin Besancon and Quentin Besancon, both of Massachusetts; brother-in-law Walt (Mary Sue) Besancon and a sister-in-law Mary œTid  Besancon.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sons Mark Besancon and David Besancon.
There will be no calling hours and private family services will be held at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  2. We were saddened to hear of Pat’s passing. I, Sharon, worked with her at the Record, and she was such a pleasant person to be around. She was always so happy and cheerful at our monthly get-togethers. Thoughts and prayers are with you, her family.

  4. I am so sorry to hear that my dear friend and Wooster High school classmate has passed away. She was a dear friend and we had lots of good time together. Our luncheons for the class were always fun each month and she was always dedicated and there at each lunch. I will miss my friend Pat. My condolences and thoughts are with her wonderful family that she spoke of often with great pride and joy.

  9. Jane and family. I am sorry to hear of the death of your Mother. I only knew her for a short time. I so glad I got to see her last Thursday and it has been an honor to have done her hair. She will be missed. I really enjoyed talking with her.

  10. To the family of Pat – I do not know you but yet I do from what she shared about you. She was a special and caring person. I volunteered with her at People To People on Tuesday afternoons.Being able to volunteer there meant so much to her, even when it became difficult for her. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  13. I worked with Pat at The Daily Record many years ago and admired how she could combine a businesslike demeanor and commitment to work with a quiet warmth and stability that helped knit the newsroom together. My condolences and prayers.
