ORRVILLE “ Richard Peter œDick  Gurich, 89 of Orrville passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Orrville Pointe.
He was born October 20, 1930 in Atlantic City, New Jersey the son of William and Marie Paus Gurich.   He married Lois Mayer on June 19, 1954.   She preceded him in death on June 4, 2018.
Dick was a life-long farmer and had also sold farm machinery.   He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Wayne Co.   He was a 70 year member and Past Master of the Hartsgrove Masonic Lodge #397, OES Past Patron Covered Bridge Chapter, White Shrine Past Watchman of Shepards, Order of Amaranth Royal Court Past Patron and Demolay Dad Advisor.
He enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, world-wide traveling including Europe, Africa, South America and Antarctica.
Surviving are his children Susan (Robert) Zanne of Rome, Italy, Nancy (Doug) Hurt of Smithville and Dale (Carol) Gurich of Smithville; grandchildren Trey (Dianna) Gurich of Greenville, SC, Jill Gurich of Los Angeles, CA, Marco Zanne of Rome, Italy, Mariacristina Zanne of Rome, Italy, Nick Hurt of Akron, Nathaniel Gurich of Michigan and Elaine Gurich of Germany and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Gurich of Tuscalousa, AL.
In addition to his wife, Lois, he was preceded in death by his parents and a son Richard in 2012.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 via zoom at 10:00 a.m. with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Wayne Co., Rev. Jennie Barrington officiating.   Burial will be at the Foxfield Preserve in Wilmot.

  13. I had Mrs. Gurich for a teacher at Orrville High School and always liked her. I came to know Mr. Gurich in later years and always enjoyed talking with him. Such nice people. Orrville lost another kind and gentle man. My deepest sympathies to all family members. Dave Handwerk

  18. He was my favorite customer at a little cafe where him and his friends would come play bridge on Tuesdays! I would talk with him for hours about his farming and things he had done in his life. And we all agreed at the job “they just don’t make em like that any more! He was a good man I’m so sorry to hear of his passing! Many condolences to his children and family! This really just breaks my heart!
