WOOSTER – Douglas Johnson, age 63, loving husband of 37 years to Sheree (nee Doyle), doting father to Keri, Kyle (deceased), Courtney (Shane Costello), son of Richard and Eleanor Johnson, brother to Tom (Sarah) and Carol, son-in-law to Paul and Jackie Doyle (deceased), brother-in-law to Brian Doyle and a host of nephews and nieces and a wonderful friend to many.
Doug served four years in the Army as an MP, and was a dedicated Wooster Police Officer for 32 years.   After retiring, Doug enjoyed working with family and friends at Buehler ™s Fresh Foods, where he continued to serve his community.   Doug was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and loved to travel with his family.
Doug lost his 15-month battle to cancer and went peacefully to be with the Lord on September 23rd.   There will be a private family service.   A public graveside service will be held Friday, October 2, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 9560 Acme Road, Seville     A Celebration of Life will be held in Doug ™s honor at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ohio ™s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd, Wooster, OH 44691.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  6. Doug was a friend to so many and someone you could totally depend upon in his work. Many times throughout the years we supported one another, side by side. You served your family and community with honor and love. Well done sir.

  7. Doug was my best friend. I have known him since high school. We used to run cross-country and track together. When we got older, our families used to go on vacations together, and we got together once a week to watch the Indians, or Browns play, and to play cards. My family will greatly miss Doug.

  10. I knew Doug in High School,and he was as great a young man as any I have ever known. I am sure he will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

  18. Doug “Metalhead” Johnson and I worked together for so many years on the same shift and I got to know Doug very well. He was a fine office, husband, and father. We had many good times and I will always remember him as a dedicated officer.
