WOOSTER “ James G. Funderburk, 83, of Wooster passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at his home.
He was born October 19, 1936 in Decaturville, Tennessee the son of Robert and Cola Beatrice Vaughn Funderburk.   He married Willie Mae Riggins on August 8, 1959.   She preceded him in death on November 25, 2012.
James graduated on May 6, 1954 from Decatur County High School and retired from Alcon Industries in Cleveland as a Supervisor after more than 40 years of employment.   He truly loved the Lord and faithfully served as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Wadsworth.   James was a man with a calm spirit and demeanor.   He was a member of the Coleman Masonic Lodge and a former member of the Wooster Noon Lions.
He was an avid gardener, loved to hunt and fish, was a die-hard Cleveland Brown ™s fan and enjoyed watching old westerns.   His grandchildren were his heart and they all have stories of riding in his pickup truck, going to wrestling matches or attending Cleveland Brown’s games.   He was proud of all of their accomplishments.
He is survived by his children Gladys (Dennis) Williams and Katrina (Keith) Jackson both of Wooster and Lasonya Griffin of Toledo and grandchildren Jonathan Williams, Trinity Funderburk, Ciara Griffin, Tyson Jackson, Marquis Griffin and Donnica Williams; great-grandchildren Jonathan Williams and Nathanael Nicolino.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents a granddaughter Shannica Williams and a brother Bobby Funderburk.
Friends will be received Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 1:30 “ 2:30 p.m. at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.   Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
A private family service will be livestreamed on the funeral home facebook page starting at 2:30 p.m.   Burial will be in the Wooster Cemetery.

  3. Sincerest sympathy for the passing of your father and grandfather. In the short time I was able to take care of him at SWCC, he showed kindness and humor that reminded me of my own grandfather, who has also gone to be with the Lord. I looked forward to hearing his laugh everyday. He will definitely be missed. I wish you all well and God Bless You.

    Our hearts are saddened by the passing of our beloved cousin Gilbert. We will long remember his quiet ways, wonderful smile and generous heart, and our last fun time together at our family Reunion last summer. We are praying God’s strength and comfort for our family. Love you all!
