I LOVE YOU MORE
Sharon Lynn Shepherd was a loving wife of 53 years to William Shepherd; sister to Darleen (Jim) Lucas; mother to Donna Gentile, Earl (Karyn) Gentile, Sherry (Chris) Mitchell, and Audra Shepherd; proud grandmother (a.k.a. œBaba ) to Matthew Gentile, Jonathan Birrer, Grace Gentile, Madison Mitchell, Joey Gentile, and Creighton Mitchell; aunt to Jimmy (Teresa) Lucas and Donny Lucas; great-aunt to Hanna, James, and Lexi; sister-in-law to Anita Shuler, Raymond Shepherd, Peggy Hawes and Kathy Byrne; cousin to many and friend to many more.
Vacations were always better when Sharon was there. She was a fun travel partner and loved to play games with her grandchildren. She was very generous to all of her children and grandchildren, and was always their #1 fan and biggest supporter. No matter the distance, Sharon was always by their side, at school concerts, football games, wrestling matches and wasn ™t afraid to share her pride in her grandchildren. She watched and helped them grow to become young adults and reach their dreams.
Baba loved unconditionally and set a lasting example of how to love. œI love you more or œto infinity and beyond œ ended each and every phone call. Not only did she unconditionally love her family, but she found a way to love God even more. She was generous with everyone she met–especially with the love she showed her grandchildren, her greatest accomplishment. She made sure they knew how much she loved them and Jesus Christ.
Sharon ™s laughter had the power to turn storms into rainbows. Her heart radiated joy and illuminated the room. A hug from her made problems disappear, and for a moment, paused time. They were warm, protective, and physical proof of her love.
Baba ™s mind was elegantly creative and abundant with knowledge. Whether it be hockey, cooking, scriptures, gardening, you name it, she knew about it.
Sharon took the time to teach her children and grandchildren well, from how to cook the most delicious œBaba chicken fingers, or turkey sandwiches, to sharing her table with many friends and visitors, she spread her wisdom.
Baba ™s heart belonged to God. She brought her entire family to a loving, personal relationship with Jesus. Her relationship with the Lord was like no other. She could sense uneasiness, or pain and knew the cure–prayer. The church was her safe haven and where she found peace. Through each worship service, Bible verse, Alleluia raised, and sermon, her love for God constantly grew.
Sharon found peace on November 11, 2020. Every moment spent with her will forever be cherished; there is no doubt in her final destination.

  3. Sharon (Mrs. Shepherd for so many years), I’m so glad that you were a part of my life. Thanks for sharing some great times with me and my family. He really broke the mold after He created you. Your generous spirit and incredible sense of humor will remain with me to my last day. I’ll certainly remember your laugh and laughing with you. Your family is really going to miss you and hurt for a while, and that’s just the shit isn’t it? (Sorry if some find this sentiment offensive, but I know your appreciation for straight talk – especially over a shared drink. Or two.) However you left them with all the tools they need to continue living good, Christian lives. I know your spirit will remain with them as you shepherd your flock from above. And in time, the holes in their hearts will be filled with the love and memories you left them.

  8. Know that my soul aches since her passing. Sharon embraced me as she would any family member and for that, I will be forever grateful. The memories that I have of her will last forever. I know that words alone cannot ease the pain of her passing for the family but you know better than any that she is resting easy beside her Lord! My most sincere condolences are given.

  10. Our family send our condolences to Bill and family. Sharon was always fun loving and friendly each time we bumped into each other down in the hills of Nashville(Ohio). I will forever remember a hilarious phone conversation with her describing their trip to Nashville(TN) and buying the clothes to fit in country style. Made them stick out like a sore thumb. I never laughed so much in my life. Fond Memories, Dan & Kathy

  13. We are deeply saddened that we have lost Sharon. She, and the Shepherd family, treated us like family during our visit to the Shepherd farm, and again when we were guests in Wooster. Sharon had a warm heart and a caring demeanor. She valued her family and was so proud of her grandchildren. We have great memories of our time with her and we will miss her visits to North Carolina.

    Love,

  15. I am sorry for your loss. I imagine your pain runs deep. Aunt Sherry was a true gem. I so loved the time we had together when she came to Arizona. We broke bread together and we went to worship together. We had such a good time. Another amazing memory that Anthony mentions is when he spent time at Uncle Bill’s and Aunt Sherry’s house in the country. Thank you for that. Rest in peace Aunt Sherry. 🙁

I was very lucky to have known Sharon for 24 years and each visit to her daughter and my dear friend, Sherry Lynn, was always filled with fun and kindness.
