Sevilla Marie Jewell passed away late Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Accord Care Community/Brennfield Orrville. She was born on February 16, 1929 to the late Clayton J. and Isabelle Marie Richwine Hodge. She was named after her Aunt Sevilla Richwine. She was a resident at Accord Care Community/Brennfield for the past nine years with declining health from Alzheimer’s.
She married James (Jimmy) E. Jewell on May 21, 1950 and they were married 54 years before his death in 2004. They met while Sevilla was a waitress at Wooster Farm Dairies Restaurant on Cleveland Road.
She worked for 22 years at the Wooster Howard’s Johnson/Planks Restaurant. In later years, Mom and I were eating out and had meals paid by persons who remembered her as their waitress while eating with their parents. They recognized her because of her beautiful white hair.
Sevilla was well known for her homemade Angel Food Cakes for church functions, friends and family.
Mom loved and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and going to their school events. She played euchre at Brennfield for many years with a family who became her second family on the weekends.
While growing up on her parent’s farm she was a member of The East Union Cheerful Workers 4-H Club. Sevilla graduated from Apple Creek High School in 1948. She was a member of East Union Lutheran Church and the Women’s Circle.
She is survived by children Jim (Becky) of Orrville, Judy (Kurt) Woodruff of Wooster, Nancy (Paul) Hiner of Dundee. Grandchildren Jodi (Rob) Owsiany of Canal Fulton, Julie (Bruce) Hurst of Hendersonville, TN, Stephanie Jewell of Orrville, Carolyn (Jacob) Karl of Toledo and Sarah Hiner (Michael Ellerbrock) of Holland,Ohio. Brother Robert Hodge of Canton. Great-Granddaughters Ashley and Paige Owsiany and Savannah Hurst.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by grandson Christopher Jewell, brothers Ervin, Richard and triplet brothers who died at birth.
Thank you to the former Brennfield staff who cared for Mom during her first seven years and the staff of Ohio ™s Hospice LifeCare.
