ASHLAND “ James L. Dague, 83, of Ashland passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born October 17, 1937 in Ashland, the son of Morris and Miriam Kissel Dague.   He married Judith Hollopeter on August 11, 1967.   She preceded him in death on September 17, 1998.
James graduated from Jeromesville High School and Ashland College.   He retired as a Professor from the John Carroll University College of Education.   He had also served as a Principal at Walnut Street and Layton Schools in Wooster.   He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy.
He was a world traveler, traveling extensively in South America, Central America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Scandinavia and Australia.
He is survived by his children Jennifer Ferguson of Wooster and Jeffrey Dague of Charlotte; grandchildren Zachary Ferguson and Maxwell Dague and a sister Ruth Ann Jolliff of Jeromesville.
In addition to his wife, Judith, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Phillip Dague.
There will be no calling hours and private family services will be held.   Burial will be in the Wooster Cemetery.   A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Pavilion of the Ashland Golf Club, 1333 Center St., Ashland.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

Service

  2. I am sorry to hear of his passing. I had Mr. Dague as a teacher when I was in the 5th grade. He was great, first time many of us had the opportunity to eat different “food” from other countries, also making the USA out of paper mache onto plywood. He loved his students and will be missed.

  3. I was just thinking of about my favorite professors at John Carroll, and Dr. Dague was at the top of the list. You gave me insights about education and life that have served me well throughout the decades. God Bless Dr. Dague and rest your soul.
