On January 26, 2021, Jesus lovingly reunited Irene œRenie Anderson, 98, with her beloved husband Virgil œAndy Anderson. For the past six years she patiently and faithfully trusted God ™s timing for this reunion.
She was born May 6, 1922, in Akron, Ohio, to John and Lillian Hunt.   She was married for 68 years to Andy, her œsailor boy , before he died in July 2014.   Her heart broke, yet she continued to pour out love to all who knew her.
She was an excellent card player who, with a mischievous smile, would excitedly say œpay me . She would usually finish a card game with a small collection of pennies, nickels, or even quarters.   She loved watching or listening to Cleveland Indians baseball games and enjoyed visits from family and her many friends.
She was an authentic Rosie-the-Riveter building fighter planes in Akron during World War II and worked for many years as a cashier at Buehler ™s Market in Wooster.
She was preceded in death by her three brothers: Fred, Bob, and Howard Hunt.   She is survived by her sister Mary Harter of Apple Creek, Ohio.
She is survived by a son, William (Julia Carter) of Forest Lake, MN, and a daughter, Debra Zibitt (Charlie) of Stinson Beach, CA; three grandchildren: Chris (Tami) of Blaine, MN, Scott (Janet) of Manhattan Beach, CA, Samara Pardi (Dan) of Mill Valley, CA; and seven great grandchildren: Allyson, Ryan, Tyler, Evan, Nicholas, Desmond and Cassidy.
She was a member of First Church of God and was a resident of West View Healthy Living in Wooster.
Private interment will be held in Wooster Cemetery at the convenience of the family.   A memorial celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

  2. I would like to extend my sympathy to all of Irene’s family. I first met Irene when I came to Wooster to work at the hospital and she worked at Buehlers’s downtown. I always got into her check out line just to talk to her as she was always so friendly and always made me feel welcome. As I got to know her through that check out line I felt like i’d Made a friend in Wooster. Wherever I saw her in town she always was someone who took the time to greet you. As she retired she began volunteering at the hospital and we so much appreciated her friendly smile and helpful ways. She was gem and that’s how she’ll be remembered by those whose lives she touched.

  3. I would like to extend my sympathy to all of Irene’s family. I first met Irene when I moved to Wooster to work at the hospital and she worked at the downtown and then only Buehlers. I always tried to go to her checkout line as she was always so friendly and always struck up a conversation which I welcomed as I didn’t know many people in Wooster at the time. When i’d See her around town she always said “Hi” and started a conversation. After she retired she began volunteering at the hospital and shared her welcoming ways with many. She will be remembered as that lady who made you feel welcome and will be missed by all who knew her

  4. My heartfelt sympathy to Irene’s family. I knew Irene & Andy from The First Church of God. They were in my Mom’s (Virginia Brenneman) TNT Sunday School class. I have fond memories of sitting with Irene & Andy at Wooster High School girls basketball games & going out to dinner after the game. They were a fun & loving couple. I am glad they are together again in heaven.

  7. I loved Irene so much, she was such a great influence on me, and always so supportive. I called her my “Mom” because she showed so much care to me, and my son. I loved her spunky attitude, and girlish ways, never seeming her age at all. Deep in her faith, I knew that was at the very root of her spirit. She was so proud of all her family, and the joy showed in her face when she spoke of them all. We were so blessed to have her friendship, and now she is back in the arms of her dear Andy, and joyfully rejoining old friends whom she has missed. Rest in peace sweet angel. I will always be thankful for you. xoxox

  10. Irene was my second mom. I so loved Irene and Andy; they were family. Our moms were Rosie the Riveters together and were best friends. Your mom and dad, and my folks started their married life together on the same day, witnessing each other’s marriage. In fact, Andy roomed with my dad at the COW when they came back from WWII, and they introduced my mom and dad to each other. They lived together right after they married until Billy came along. Their friendship spanned many years, and we loved living across the street from my second family. Your mom was the sweetest person, full of love…and I can still hear her laugh. We drove up to Wooster a couple years ago and surprised her with a visit. It was a wonderful couple of hours listening to all the long ago stories and hearing about the whole family. She was so proud of her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She lived a beautiful long life, and is back with her Andy. I can just hear all of the old gang laughing together. Much love and my deepest sympathies.
