Michael œMike  Eugene Leighty, 61, of Wooster died on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at his home.
He was born March 20, 1960 in Wooster to Donald Eugene and Virginia Ruth Stahl Leighty.   On July 10, 1994, he married Anna œAnn  Bowers.   She survives.
Mike had been owner and operator of several auto parts stores in the area and had done custodial work at Fredericksburg Elementary and also taught drivers education at one time.   He loved cars, racing and would build late model race cars.   He was also a bee keeper and an avid reader, especially non-fiction and business books.   He had been active in the Fredericksburg community for many years.
Along with his wife, Ann, he is survived by his daughters Michelle Leighty and Marcy Leighty both of Wooster; brother Mark (Connie) Leighty of Fredericksburg; half-siblings Rodney œChip  (Maryann) Patterson of Columbus, Robert œRob  (Michelle) Patterson of Shreve, Lisa (Roger) Glasgow of Painesville and   Amber (Robert) Tidwell of Villa Rica, GA; step-sister Sherry (Joseph) Duncan of Killbuck; step-father Al Johnson of Holmesville and step-mother Niccie Crone.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Rodney Patterson and step-mother Joann Leighty.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 10:00 AM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Rev. Mark McCord officiating.   Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends and family will be received on Friday from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray expenses.

    I have known Mike since he was in high school and the. Worked with him at Fredericksburg. He was suck a kind person and always willing to help me. He will be missed by many.

  17. Mike was always a fun spirit in school with a smile on his face. For some reason, I recall his long hair and wanted to comb it! LOL. Any cat lover in my book has to be a great person! Thanks Mile for the positive smiles.
