œTogether Again 
Marlene Meier Vanek, 86, of Massillon, formerly of Apple Creek died on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Allay Senior Care in Canton.
She was born December 10, 1934 in Apple Creek to Ferris and Sarah Johnson Meier.   On February 5, 1955, Marlene married Dennis Vanek.   He preceded her in death on March 31, 2021.
Marlene had worked as a secretary for IBM, where she had been secretary of the year.   She grew up on the family farm in Apple Creek where she milked cows and tilled the fields. She was a member of St. Peter ™s United Church of Christ.   Marlene enjoyed archery and had been the Virginia State Archery Champion for three years in a row and had also made a œRobin Hood  shot three different times.   She also enjoyed gardening, bowling, was an avid crafter and embroiderer and loved animals, especially dogs and cats.   Marlene was an avid fisherwoman, once catching a 29  catfish and loved to go crabbing with her grandsons in the Chesapeake Bay.   She and Dennis toured all around Australia twice and also toured Great Britain.
She is survived by her daughter Kim (Russell) Lilley of Massillon; grandsons Samuel (Alison) Gore and Nicholas Gore; two great-grandchildren and siblings Charlotte (John) Collier of PA, Brian Meier and Blake (Anita) Meier both of Apple Creek along with many nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Pamela Evans and a sister-in-law Sherrie Meier.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:30 AM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.   Inurnment will follow in Apple Creek Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be directed to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr., Ste E., Uniontown, OH 44685.
