WOOSTER “ Emma Eleanor Janaway, 93, of Wooster and formerly of Big Prairie went to be with the Lord August 13, 2021 at the Wayne Co. Care Center.
She was born October 1, 1927 at Virden, Manitoba, Canada.   She was the daughter of John and Martha Alice (Gee) Wythe.   She attended Miniota High School and graduated from Birtle High School in 1949.   Emma attended the University of Manitoba at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
On July 21, 1950, she married Aubrey œShorty  Janaway in London, Ontario, Canada.
Prior to her retirement, she had worked 37 plus years as a Retail Customer Service Clerk at Nichol ™s Department Store and then K-mart both in Wooster.   She was a Girl Scout Leader and 4-H Advisor for a number of years.
She is survived by two daughters Lorinda œLori  Gaines and Marleen (Randy) Schiefer; her long-time dear friend Sue Grossenbacher; a sister-in-law Joyce (John) Wythe as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband Aubrey, a daughter Eleanor Anne, her parents and a brother John A. Wythe.
Friends will be received on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Mcintire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with a Celebration of Life Service immediately following with Rev. Dr. Everett Caldwell officiating.
Thee service will be live streamed on the funeral home facebook page starting at 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be in the Nashville Cemetery.

  2. I will always remember Eleanor’s sweet disposition and smile. I had the privilege of visiting with Eleanor at the Wayne County Home each month. She was a very kind and lovely lady. My sincere sympathy to her family.

  4. What a beautiful picture of your Mom. I worked with Eleanor many years at Nichols, then when she moved into the care center I seen her frequently on my visits into see my Dad or visit Candi. I always stopped to visit with her & hear her soft little voice. May she Rest In Peace & God Speed Eleanor God Speed.

  5. I had the pleasure of meeting Miss Eleanor while she stayed with us at the Care Center. I enjoyed it when she would stop to check on us at the front office. She loved to give receive or give us hugs and her sweet little laugh will be greatly missed. She was a wonderful and kind lady.
