WOOSTER Steven George Zufan, 67, of Wooster passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Ohio s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster.
He was born December 20, 1953 in Lakewood the son of George J. and Jean L. Gamble Zufan. He married Carol Oberth on October 1, 1977. She survives.
After obtaining his CDL, Steven became a semi-truck driver and had driven for various companies through the years. He drove over 3,000,000 miles and traveled to 48 states. He had also been a welder. Steven enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling to Florida and South Carolina, and always loved to tell jokes. In his younger years he raced a stock-car which led to his love of watching NASCAR. He loved swimming with his grandchildren and gardening, especially growing tomatoes.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children David S. Zufan and Rebecca M. Zufan, both of Wooster; grandchildren Cody D. Zufan, Marlena J. Zufan, and Dennis L. Heard, Jr. all of Wooster; siblings Joan M.(Michael) Grega of Clyde and Kenneth J.(Lynne) Zufan of Broadview Heights; his mother-in-law Carol L. Harter Oberth; a brother-in-law Thomas H (Shelly) Oberth; a sister-in-law Susan E. (Art) Hayes; nieces and nephews Jason Hoffmann, Eric Hoffmann, Michael Grega, Jr., Theresa Bowers, Brent Zufan, Bryan Zufan, Thomas Hayes and Kelly DeJesus; and his Canine Companions Max and Kiea.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Janet L. Hoffmann and his father-in-law Joseph A. Oberth.

I am Steve’s brother and I will miss him. Steve lived with a big heart and a unique way of seeing things. Steve endured more than his fair share of life’s challenges. Just having him in our lives made us better persons. That was part of his mission of life. It just took us a while to see it. As my mother-in-law learned from her father to quote “why do we get so smart so old”
