Richard Albert Miller, 82, of Wooster died on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born October 31, 1938, in Mansfield to Harmon Albert and Pearle Covert Trumpower Miller.   On June 24, 1961, he married Leah Maxine Huston.   She survives.
Richard graduated from Loudonville High School in 1956, where he had lettered in football, basketball and baseball.   After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving with the Seabee Battalion # 5 as a petty officer from 1956-1959.   Following his time in the service, Richard attended Kent State University for 2 years.
In 1963, he joined Columbia Gas Company and was transferred to the Findley area in 1986, before retiring after 33 years of service in February 1996.   He held many positions at Columbia Gas including safety/health specialist, safety administrator, leakage and non-destructive testing inspector.   Richard was active throughout his life in the Eagles, Kiwanis, Masons, Elks and the Baptist Church.   He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes Football team.   He loved playing golf, traveling and was an avid card shark.
Along with his wife, whom he just celebrated 60 years of marriage, Richard is survived by his daughters Ann E. (Bryan) Coey and Leah M. (Bill) Chapman; grandchildren Nathan (Marisa), Aaron (Jessica), Samuel (Laura) and Rachel Coey, Drew (Danielle) Mitsch and Alyssa Chapman; great-grandchildren Megan, Wesley and Abigail Coey, Layla and Juliet Coey, David and Emily Ann Coey and Lana Rey Mitsch along with a sister Virginia (Gene) Burgess.
Private family services were held.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster assisted the family.
