William Howard Yergin, 72, of Wooster, OH, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on October 21, 2021.
Bill was a beautiful spirit, an exemplar of integrity, loving kindness and enthusiasm. He leaves behind the love of his life, Diana Kathryn (Stewart) Yergin, known as Annie; beloved daughters Lindsay Witt (Brian), Chelsea Gajadhar (Jermey), and Courtney Yergin; Annie s children, Katie Pack (Scott) and Nathan Rearden; a sister, Linda Ruth Nesbit (Sam) and nieces, Christy, Bethany, Karyn and Mareike. Bill was a loving grandfather to Rook, Cirren, Owen, Kyle, Sawyer, Lillian, Juliet and Madilyn.
Bill was born in Canton, China on August 15, 1949 to Howard V. and Martha P. Yergin. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his younger brother, John.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 2:00PM at The Federated Church, 76 Bell Street, Chagrin Falls, OH.
Bill was a graduate of Mamaroneck High School in New York, 1967; The College of Wooster, 1971, and Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, 1976. His private practice was in Chesterland, OH.
Bill had many interests and pursued them with gusto! He was an avid reader and a life-long learner. Bill was a true history buff with a keen interest in the Civil War. He was both a hiker and a biker and loved a good trail in the beautiful countryside. Bill enjoyed being a youth soccer coach and referee. Gardening was another of his passions, and he devoted many hours as a volunteer at the Holden and Secrest Arboretums.
Bill enjoyed a wide variety of musical styles, rock, jazz and blues primarily. Most of all he loved being a drummer, from elementary school days, to the College of Wooster Pipe Band, several community bands, and most recently with the Salty Roads Band of Cleveland, OH. One of his main delights was reconnecting with the Rainbow Press as they released their third album, Love Is The Truth.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Please join us on December 4 to remember and honor the love of my life, Bill Yergin.

Annie, I am heartbroken for you. I know how much you and Bill adored each other. I am happy for you that you found each other, again, and were able to spend so many loving years together, although suddenly cut short. Please, please take care of yourself.

I went to high school with Bill and though I don’t think I saw him in person since we graduated, but it was great reconnecting on Facebook. I so enjoyed his posts and following his passion for drumming. I will miss him.

Interesting, upbeat , informative and fun. A loss to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
I only knew Bill through Facebook, but we had similar views on many things and shared some opinions with one another. I felt him to be one of the good guys, and I was shocked and saddened to learn that he had left us. We needed him here.
Bill and I shared a special connection. Our mothers were sisters, and best friends. When we were young our families shared many special times together.
Annie, I think I only met you once, but Bill worked with me at Lantern Court over the past couple years. I have missed him since you both moved, but now I miss him even more. He had such great stories to share of both his dental practice and his drumming so it always crossed in my head for me think of him as Dr. Teeth – a dentist who also played drums like Animal. He also shared how much he cared for his grandkids and family. I miss hearing him coming before I saw him because he enjoyed music so much that I knew it was him. He was one of the good guys and will always be missed. Rest in Peace, Bill.
