Paula and I became good friends while working at Greenleaf and even though we only ran into each other a handful of times since then, it was as if no time had passed since the last and we would chat up a storm. 12. Dear Paula’s Family. Oh, no! We all thought that Paula would somehow keep living!
I met her, when she joined Mary Nicholls’ Thursday morning Yoga class, probably in 2008, and a lot of us would stay for eating our sack lunches afterwards and talking about the 2008 Presidential Election coming up, etc, etc.
Paula was always so positive and kind, as you all know.
When she got cancer the first time, she missed a lot of yoga, and it was never the same.
When I’d run into her somewhere, she’d tell me about how she was in remission, or not.
Then she did that Bus thing, with the fight to get the Affordable Care act passed. And she went to DC and gave a long talk in front of Congress, with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer standing behind her. She felt rotten, but she went there and touched everyone there, in her special Paula way. I’ve always thought that Paula making that trip and speech is why we finally got Obamacare!
And she spoke at at least one rally on the Square in Wooster, too. She lived her life to the fullest every day, and lived long past Emily and Noah’s beautiful wedding, too!
I don’t know most of you, but I know we all are full of tears right now, because she finally had to go. I know she is a special Angel now, a lot more powerful than ever!
She won’t rest. She will do wonderful things always! Just like she always did, no matter what! When you think she’s with you, you’re right! Love to you all, Susi <3

  26. Paula’s parents Melvin and Joyce were customers on my paper route from 1957 to 1963. They were a kind couple with loving children. Paula was born after I moved on to other employment; however, I’m not surprised that she too became loved and cherished by so many. My condolences to her surviving family.

  27. So heartbroken to read this today. Words just don’t describe how big of an impact Paula had on every person she came in contact with, especially me. I met her in desperate need of a massage. Not only did she help me heal but she encouraged me to pursue my dream with massage and was my mentor. Her family was everything to her. She enriched every client she touched. Her skills were on point. I hope Art and her children know how much love people have for her. I also hope you guys find peace and comfort. I will never forget her and I thank God for putting her in my life. She fought hard and I hope she is finally at peace and out of pain. Until we meet again my friend.. ❤️

  28. We went through massage therapy training together. It’s been years since our paths crossed, but I remember her kindness, she was genuine, and she made people feel like they mattered. She often spoke about her children. I’m so sorry she had to leave Earth side so young. Those closest to her must feel a profound loss. God Bless.

  29. I first met Paula, when she brought her kids to the library/storytime. She then became my massage therapist for years, until she was no longer physically able to work. I was in awe of Paula’s courage, her commitment to social justice issues and the love and care she had for family and beyond spoke volumes. I always enjoyed sharing my homemade bread and jam during the holidays. I will always remember Paula as a gentle and caring light to others. Sending prayers and peace to the family.
